Reading

Students in our reading programs make substantial gains in reading skills and reach their full potential as readers. We offer a variety of courses for all levels of reading, picture books to original classics.

LEVEL 1B-1C

Target: Grade 1 or equivalent reading level

For students who:

  • can decode words but sound choppy
  • want to speed up reading speed and read accurately
  • want to master how to write a complete sentence and journal

They will:

  • read 48 picture books (24Books per level) to improve reading fluency
  • learn sentence structure and how to apply to their writing
  • rise to an independent readers to learn information through vast reading

LEVEL 2A-3C

Target: Grade 2-3 or equivalent reading level

For students who:

  • rarely choose to read
  • cannot comprehend well
  • have limited vocabulary

They will:

  • read 144 picture books and easy chapter books from Newbery Winner list
  • write 144 book reports
  • pass the comprehension test to the next reading level

LEVEL 4A-6C

Target: Grade 4-6 or equivalent reading level

For students who:

  • hate to read chapter books
  • cannot comprehend well
  • cannot concentrate in reading

They will:

  • read  108 chapter books from Newbery Medal Winner List
  • write 108 reading response
  • pass comprehension test to the next reading level

CLASSIC STARTS

Target: Grade 3-4 or equivalent reading level

For students who:

  • try to enjoy classics
  • are relatively advanced readers
  • want to expand their perspectives
  • want to improve their critical thinking skills

We guarantee they can:

  • read 24 classics books
  • improve critical thinking skills
  • understand themes and motives of classics

ORIGINAL CLASSIC

Target: Grade 7-8 or equivalent reading level

For students who:

  • are relatively advanced readers
  • want to expand their perspective
  • try to extend their thoughts to essay writing

They will:

  • read 12 books from original classic book lists
  • engage in chapter studies
  • improve critical thinking skills
  • understand themes and motives of literature
